How is your day going today my fellow jewels!?

Thanksgiving is a few months away and I can NOT wait to get my grub on and enjoy my family. I love this time of the year because it serves as a reminder to give thanks for whatever it is that we are grateful for. BUT…Gratitude isn’t just something you reserve for thanksgiving.

It is important to give thanks daily.  Some of us can give thanks easier than others.  For some we have everything you need and want.  Things come quicker than the drop of a dime.  It’s nothing to give thanks.

But some of us, struggle day to day.  Sometimes sadness hit.  The road is smooth and suddenly a bump appears and we just can’t seem to get over it.  Then we find it hard to give thanks. I am here to bring ease to the art of giving thanks.

First, when you think that nothing is going your way and there is nothing to be gracious for, think about something or someone that means a lot to you.  It could be your child(ren), you mother/father, a sibling, the pet you adore, the smell of coffee in the morning.. WHATEVER it is, close your eyes and thing about it. You should feel an instant sense of appreciation.  Say thank you!

Next, whatever you thought of, write it down.  I thought of my two beautiful kids, Braelon and Jennah. Why don’t you go as far as printing a picture of whatever it is you thought of.  Got it written down?  GREAT!

Now, write down five reasons to be grateful for what/who it is you wrote down.  It doesn’t matter how long it may take as long as you write something down. I am grateful for my kids because:

  1. I see the love they have for me everyday.
  2. The ease they bring when I see a smile on their face.
  3. They are caring.
  4. They make me smile.
  5. They are the most beautiful blessing a lady could ask for.

    My gratitude reminder.

Just writing this list down made my heart jump for joy.  Hopefully by now you are getting closer to the ultimate gratitude. This list will serve as your reminder to be thankful.

The last thing I want you to do is to take that list and put it in different places.  That could be your bathroom mirror, the refrigerator, the dashboard of your car, or even your workspace at work.  Whenever you feel like nothing is going your way, or you find it hard to give thanks, refer to that list and experience the instant gratification you will experience after reading it.

Take this last reminder with you: Life in itself is a gift.  Treat it with care.  Slowly unwrap it.  Enjoy the present you were blessed with the day you arrived.

Remember, don’t be a hard rock when you truly are a gem.

Peace.
